You've gotta love silly 80's film references......

Anyone slightly metal-inclined get down on the 6th and support the cause!

Good lineup! I'd say it represents a fairly decent slice of Tamworth's music pie. The slice that has some of the cherries and possibly a bit of the Flake that was nearby when the cake-knife cut into it.

I will certainly be there. Good luck to all!

I just read the Herald's review of Semi-Final 2 and would like to set a factual inaccuracy straight before next week's final. According to the Herald our cover tune was 'Roadkill' by Skid Row.

This might seem like nit-picking, but in a competition where songwriting/creativity/originality are judging criteria, having your strongest (in our opinion) tune credited to someone else is not very helpful. Can I just point out that 'Slave to the Grind' by Skid Row was our cover tune and that 'Roadkill' was written by ME!!!!! ME I tell, you ME!!!!!

I don't seem to remember Skid Row writing any bottle-neck blues riffs in B on heavily distorted 7-string guitar. In fact I'm not sure I've heard anyone do this (originality box ticked hopefully).

Grrrrhhh.

I always thought Bad Horsie by Steve Vai was tuned down to B...It's definitely played on a slide....Could be wrong though.

After slave to the Grind was released in 1991 there was a big gap between albums. As a stop gap they released a mini-album of covers in 1992 and in 1993 a VIDEO called Roadkill.
That may be the confusion.

Bad Horsie! - I should have thought of that, being a massive Vai fan. I think it's on 6 strings, but it is in B. It would be interesting to know the string gauges he used to tune down that far on a regular 6.

Oh well, you still don't hear much stuff in that style, so I'll still claim to tick the 'slightly original' box.

That fuckin Steve Vai, he nicks all my stuff.

I got to meet him a few years back. If I'd known at the time that he was going to travel into the future and steal an idea that I hadn't yet thought of, I'd have punched the bugger.
